2008 Goals

Posted on 31 December 2007 by SonHouse

Wow!  2007 has turned out to be my best year ever in search marketing revenue.  I have had a huge increase in affiliate income due to lots of hard work and my never ending education on the subject.  I’ve started dozens of campaigns and have optimized the winners to be steady earners, which is really the key to this business.  Now it’s just a matter of time to build out as many as I can handle.  So one of my affiliate goals for the new year is to have at least 12 new profitable campaigns.

I’ve discovered a few tools that will help me achieve this, SpeedPPC is a big time saver and can generate targeted adgroups and keyword lists.  I highly recommend this one!  In addition, I use a variety of keyword research tools to help build my targeted lists.  I’ve been using OMS from PPC Classroom to track everything although I may explore a few other tools in that area as well.  I hear that many of the successful affiliates are using x conversions so I will probably give that one a try.  Tracking which keywords are profitable is a must to stay in the black.

In addition, I would like to build out a few strong content SEO sites.  PPC costs continue to rise due to competition and the search engines quality score algorithms.  I would like to outsource as much of this as possible as I do not have the time to write all the content that is required to keep an SEO site active.

I was also inspired, by listening to David Bullock recently, to get into split testing everything….landing pages, ads, etc.  I can really see the power in calculated and well documented testing.  I have always tested, but did so more on a, try it for a bit, eyeball the results and make a decision.  My approach now is much more scientific and I utilize split testing tools and math to determine the winners so there is no guessing.  One thing I can really see now is that math can be your friend, if you understand it and can make it work for you, you can turn your campaigns into winners.

In other news, my product marketing is going well and I’ve been able to apply my search marketing and affiliate skills to help increase those sales as well.  I would like to create new sales pages for each of the products and need to find a new shopping cart system that will help me put together the best offers possible for my customers.

I hope all of you take the time to write down your goals for the new year.  This will help you make your dreams a reality!  Good luck to you and have a Happy New Year.

Have you tried SpeedPPC?

Posted on 19 December 2007 by SonHouse

If you are a serious ppc marketer and want to build out your campaigns faster than ever, then SpeedPPC is for you!!  I started using this tool the other day, and I must say, it is amazing!

SpeedPPC allows you to build out your campaigns fast and easy.  You can create lists of keywords, add expansion keywords then generate ad groups, and ads on the fly.  Lots of targeted adgroups tightly grouped with small keyword lists and ads that receive great ctr with links to targeted landing pages equals a great quality score.  Google loves this!!

I was able to launch a few campaigns in a few minutes compared to hours or days.  I can’t tell you how great this is.  You can quickly and easily test out certain niches and find out what is converting and what is not.  This is the key to success…dropping the duds and keeping those offers, campaigns, adgroups and keywords that are generating a positive ROI.

SpeedPPC comes with a few different landing page templates to try.  I just updated my own landing pages with the code that was included on the templates and I was off to the races.

In addition, I’ve even combined it with OMS from PPC Classroom to help track all the results.

Once you have that info..then just increase your adspend and launch similar campaigns on the other 2 big networks and laugh all the way to the bank.  Nice!!

Anyway, give SpeedPPC a try.  Jay Stockwell is great to work with!

Stay tuned for a more in depth case study….

PPC Classroom – Day 27 – What To Do First?

Posted on 11 December 2007 by SonHouse

Well..I’ve been back from Vegas for over a week now, and I’ve been sorting through the material I gathered and rereading the notes I took.  Trying to let it all sink in and make some plans for my next set of campaigns.

There were many new tools that were discussed at the event and I’ve started to familiarize myself with how they work and which ones I’ll be using when launching my next campaign.

Also, I’ve started really tracking my split tests using a split tester tool and will build out a matrix, per Dave Bullock, to track the changes I’m making to the ads and landing pages.  He suggested building out as many as 18 different landing pages per offer to really figure out which one converts the best.  So, lots of work ahead, but it will be well worth it in the long run…

I’m looking at some other conversion software tools as help me figure out exactly what is converting.

I had a good conversation with Jay Stockwell from SpeedPPC as well, so I’ll be looking very seriously at getting that tool to help me with future campaigns.

Anyway, lots to do…I’m getting to work.
