Shareware Product Sites Revamped

Posted on 08 October 2006 by SonHouse

I’ve been developing shareware for the last few years with some success in a few different niches.  I have developed 6 different applications over 2 years and have marketed these apps through one of my main sites.  After doing some research and reading up on a few blogs of other success stories in the shareware world, I decided to design separate sites for each of the products I have developed.  My thinking is that each product will have its own domain and have between 4 to 20 web pages with each page being solely devoted to that one product.  Chances of being listed organically in the search engines should increase due to these changes and drive more sales.

Also, I have discovered those keywords that work for this niche and I’m building pages around those keywords which should also improve search engine results.  Each of the sites has a separate analytics account, so I can track the traffic.  Analytics has been a great tool although I’m a bit nervous about giving google access to all that info, but for now, and since it’s free, I’ll have to deal with it.

The sites are coming together although it has been a lot of work.  I’ve had to tweak logos, screenshots and other artwork used for the sites and make sure all links are in working order.  In addition, after having some trouble with my file host server, the download links seem to finally be working although I’m still looking for a better host for these files.  I’ve been using Streamload, now MediaMax, for years but recently have had lots of trouble with them…ie. broken links, problems uploading etc.  To cut down on the clutter, I’ve decided to not place adsense on these sites, for now anyway, that may change as traffic increases.

I’ve done 4 of the sites and have 2 more to build.  I’ll keep you posted on my progress.
