Viva Las Vegas

Posted on 30 November 2007 by SonHouse

I’m on my way to Vegas tomorrow to attend the PPC Live event put on by the PPC Classroom guys, Anik Singal and Jeremy Palmer.  I have to admit, I’m pretty pumped up about going and I’m really looking forward to networking.  The one thing about this business is it can be rather lonely as I do not know one person within 60 miles of Austin that does search engine marketing or even that truly gets it.

Case and point, today I was speaking to some of my colleagues at school, I teach elementary health and P.E., and was trying to explain what I do on the side and why I was heading to Las Vegas this weekend.  They listened patiently as I tried to explain, very broadly, how I make money using the internet and search, and all I really got was some blank stares.

I mean, I get pretty excited when I talk about the potential of search marketing and the internet in general but the folks I work with are pretty much career educators and don’t seem to really think of work outside the school district, or at least they don’t talk about it.  I’m basically a serial entrepreneur working a 9 to 5 gig, or 7 to 4 if you work for a school district, and I’m trying to get to a point in my online marketing efforts where I can quit my day job and work for myself.

The harder I work, the closer I get to my goal, and if today is any hint of what the future holds it looks very bright indeed.  I had my first $500 day!!

I hope I don’t blow it in Vegas…..

Congratulations! I had to wonder if this was going to become productive for you. Goes to show you just how powerful persistance really is. This is no joke!

Wait until you experience the thrill of your first $5,000 day. I know that you are on your way.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks Rob! This business is certainly been productive thus far, I’m starting to earn more than I do at my day job, I just need to make sure it continues.

    Can’t wait for that first $5000 day…sweet. 🙂

I’m still in Vegas at the moment, just waiting for my flight back to Austin. The event ended earlier today. I’ll have a few posts up on it asap.
